Dermal Fillers are injectable gel-like substances that can restore volume, enhance contours of the face, smooth and hydrate the skin.

This is a minimally invasive, non-permanent injectable procedure that can shape lips and lift the cheeks, fill out deep folds and wrinkle lines, as well a treat hollows and dark circles under the eye.

Dermal fillers provide immediate rejuvenation for a more youthful, refreshed look with very little down-time.

At True Edge Medical, we use premium dermal fillers that are administered by our medical doctors only.

The premium fillers are an injectable gel called Hyaluronic Acid. Hyaluronic acid is a sugar molecule that is found naturally in the body inside connective tissues and is one of the structural elements of the skin, along with collagen and elastin. It is a hydrating molecule that attracts water, helping to hydrate and plump the skin and is metabolised slowly by the body. It can be a subtle and impressive tool to help contour and refresh the face.

We offer a premium variety of the leading dermal fillers, ranging from soft to firm, each specifically designed for use in different parts of the face.

During your consultation our doctors will recommend the correct filler to address your concerns and provide you with a treatment plan with the aim to achieve the best possible natural results.

Dermal fillers can be used in the face, neck, and hand areas.

Dermal fillers can be used in various ways to:

  • Add volume & enhance thin lips
  • Improves volume loss through cheeks and the middle of the face area
  • Improve the appearance under the eye (tear trough area)
  • Enhance facial features such as cheekbones, jawline and projection of the chin

Dermal fillers in your 30s

Dermal fillers are safe when administered by trained and certified health professionals, however, as with any medical procedure, there are certain risks. Whilst risks of severe complications are very low, these may include infection, nodule formation, or blood vessel compromise.

At True Edge Medical each treatment is meticulously planned and the risks will be discussed with you prior to your treatment. Our doctors are available after every treatment to give advice and guidance for any concerns and are contactable on our practice number. We have a management plan in place in the event of any serious complications occurring. In the event of any potential serious complication occurring we may aim to minimise effects of dermal fillers with a reversal agent called Hyaluronidase which, if administered quickly, can reduce any major complications.

At True Edge Medical your comfort is extremely important to us. The dermal fillers have a local anaesthetic in the product but to make the procedure more comfortable, we will apply a numbing cream to the area for 30 minutes or inject a small amount of local anaesthetic into the treatment areas before the treatment. The options will be discussed with you during your consultation.

While there may be some stinging or pricking sensation felt, most people experience minimal discomfort.

Mild swelling and redness may occur for 1-3 days after the treatment. Mild bruising may also result and will settle down quickly.

Less common effects are firmness/hardness, lumps/bumps, itching or discolouration.

There is minimal downtime after the procedure. You canreturn to work on the same day and resume physical activity 24 hours after the treatment.

After each consultation a detailed treatment plan will be provided to you. In the treatment plan we will discuss the time frame and sequence when dermal fillers are used in specific areas. This is to provide a more gradual improvement and enhancement in the treated areas as every individual responds differently to the dermal filler. This is to avoid an “overfilled” look which may occur if too much filler is given at once or too quickly.

Typically, dermal fillers last between six to eighteen months, depending on the site injected, the type of filler used and your body’s rate of breaking down the hyaluronic acid.

Yes, there is a $70.00 consultation fee which is used as a credit if you choose to proceed with the treatment.
All your appointments begin with a private consultation with our doctors. We book you in for a 45 minute consultation. During this time, you can discuss any concerns you may have in a relaxed space and we will aim to answer them. We will discuss a treatment plan for you and provide a quote. If you decide to proceed with the treatment, some treatments may be able to be conducted on the same day (depending on availability) but others may require an appointment to be made for the next convenient time.

Whilst there is minimal downtime with dermal filler procedures and you can usually resume your everyday activities, after any procedure, self-care is very important.

We recommend the following post procedure care:

Generally, it is important to keep the area of skin clean, try to avoid heavy creams and makeup while the skin is healing. You may apply cold packs & take oral antihistamines to reduce any swelling.

Some more specific instructions include:

  • Avoid exercise for 24–48 hours
  • Avoid direct UV exposure
  • Use a soothing, antiseptic cream to treat the area
  • Sleep on your back for the first few nights to relieve pressure on the area and avoid disturbing the filler
  • Do not consume alcohol in the first 24 hours to avoid thinning the blood
  • Do not use AHAs, BHAs, Retinol, or Vitamin C for 24 hours after the procedure
  • Do not rub or massage the treated areas for 24 hours
  • Avoid laser treatments, microdermabrasion, and chemical peels for 2 weeks following the procedure
  • Avoid Aspirin or Ibuprofen as this may promote bruising. Paracetamol is recommended for any discomfort.
  • No international flights for 3 days
